Ricochet
Spa complex Galatea takes pride in presenting the first official Ricochet court in the Czech Republic. Equipment for this Squash-like sport may be rented or purchased at the reception.
Ricochet is a fairly new sport catering to the needs of today’s active population. The court, together with the rackets, the balls and the rules are all designed to ensure that players achieve long exchanges and start enjoying the game in a short period of time. Besides sharpening your body and wits, Ricochet helps to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
Ricochet rackets are extremely light thus decreasing the risk of potential arm and joint injuries. The rackets’ light weight makes especially the women and children very comfortable with the game.
Ricochet balls are the size of a golf ball. Similar to squash balls, they are made of soft materials. Three various colors indicate the speed and the bounce of the ball. Regardless your level though, the game is a lot of fun.
The court is 8 meters long, 5,5 meters wide and 2,7 meters tall. Except for the back panel made from a impact resistant glass, all walls together with the ceiling are made out of resistant materials. The lights are impact resistant as well. Maple or beech parquets cover the floor with game areas indicated by colored lines.
Ricochet electronics
The court’s front panel contains an electronic display showing the score. The electronic scorecard may be updated by hand or via a remote control. Infrared sensor on the bottom of the front panel indicates with a beep when ball is out of play.
Ricochet and Your Health
After less then 10 minutes of play you will start to feel your lungs working and your heartbeat will increase. Current medical research shows that half an hour of an exercise of this type performed on a daily basis is sufficient to keep your body in a good physical condition.
